Alright, all you diehard fans (Mandy), sorry for the extremely long sabbatical. Mike decided to change blog hosts and make all these gorgeous banners, and I got out of the habit of chronicling the awesome moments of young family-hood. But today…well, today is just too momentous to be overlooked! Not only is this the awesome first week of school (awesome for young boy in the good sense, awesome for momma in the all-encompassing, totally excited and completely bereft at the same time sense), but just to make sure this week would not pass unremarked into the annals of history, Jack decided to up the ante a little bit. I got home from work on Thursday night and Mike announced that Jack had his first wiggly tooth. Amazing!! Babies don’t lose teeth, I thought, only big kids do. Oh, right. Jack IS a big kid now. I keep forgetting! It’s whizzed by so fast. Back to our story: the last few days have been filled with much excited wiggling of said tooth (forcing me to wrestle with my extreme queesy-ness over such things) intermingled with moments of extreme angst over when it would fall out, if it would bleed when it did, how much it would hurt and anxiety-ridden debates over letting it fall out on it’s own vs. helping it with a bit of floss and a door slam. In the end, of course, all the anxiety was unnecessary. Jack and I were sitting together in sacrament meeting this morning. He turned to me with a tiny piece of something in his hand. I thought it was garbage. He mouthed to me in awe, My Tooth!! We were both pretty excited. Luckily the last speaker had just wrapped up, so we didn’t have long to wait before we could charge down the hallway to check out his new smile in the mirror. Our ward is awesome — the people around us smiled and congratulated Jack on the big milestone. How awesome is that — seriously, where do you find so many people willing to take part in the tiny-yet-monumental moments of life with you?
