Jack is a HUGE Harry Potter fan. Well, let’s face it, he’s a huge dress-up-in-anything fan, but Harry Potter tops the list. Fabulous Miss Mandy found the Gryffindor cape on a trip to the thrift store, we enlisted Nanny in knitting the scarf, and found the accessories 70% off at JoAnns. SCORE! I didn’t let him see the whole get up until the day of Hallowe’en and it just ’bout killed the boy. I can’t even begin to report the begging and negotiations on Jack’s part to get to see his costume early. But it paid off — the kid was SO thrilled to be Harry Potter! AND, he won a prize at our church Trunk or Treat party for being so authentic. Of course, he still wears his costume on a regular basis. Here’s how that typically goes:

Mommy, can I watch some Harry Potter?

<brief moment of thought while I weigh up how much tv watching he’s done that day.> Ok!

two minutes into the movie, he hits pause and goes sprinting down the hallway to put on Harry Potter.

five minutes of bouncing around living room BEING Harry Potter.

Mommy, I’m tired of watching Harry Potter. I’m going outside to get the Bad Guys! (typically played by poor patient long-suffering Shelbydog.
